CPRE Oxfordshire is deeply concerned about the Government’s proposed new way of calculating housing numbers1, with the figures to be imposed top-down on local authorities.

Cherwell District Council have consulted on a Community Involvement Paper to inform a review of the adopted Cherwell Local Plan 2011-2031 (closed 14 September 2020).

Cherwell District Councillors have given the final ok to 4,400 houses in the Oxford Green Belt. Over 20,000 houses are now planned to be built on our Green Belt. How can it be ‘exceptional’ if it is becoming the norm? Who is looking at cumulative impact?

The draft Reading Transport Strategy 2036 (RTS 2036) has been developed as the statutory Local Transport Plan (LTP4) for the Borough of Reading and sets the strategy to 2036 for a cleaner, healthier and more sustainable Reading.

Given that the Secretary of State insisted that this Local Plan was submitted for examination, it is hardly surprising that one of his Inspectors has found it acceptable.

Deadline for consultation has been extended to 1st September.

The Plan Review allocates 4,400 houses as part of Oxford’s ‘unmet need’, all located in the Oxford Green Belt, around Kidlington, Begbroke, Yarnton and North Oxford.
