Vale Inspector agrees Local Plan

Written by CPRE Oxfordshire

Plans to build about 13,000 new homes in Oxfordshire have been signed off by the government's planning inspector.

Government is backing a report by the National Infrastructure Commission that recommends the creation of a 'silicon beltway' between Oxford and Cambridge, including a new expressway and a significant increase in housing along the route.  But what problem is this trying to fix, what problems will it cause and is a new road an old (& wrong?) solution?

Cherwell District Council are undertaking a Partial Review on their Local Plan (Part 1), specifically to help meet Oxford’s unmet housing need. An Options Paper has been published for consultation.

West Oxfordshire District Council has published a number of proposed modifications to the West Oxfordshire Local Plan, including a dramatic increase in housing numbers and proposals for a new garden village at Eynsham. Consulation runs until Friday 23 December 2016.

West Oxfordshire's revised Local Plan has been approved for consultation by councillors following concerns raised by the Inspector about the housing figures.
