1,000 houses proposed at Alvescot Downs

Written by CPRE Oxfordshire

An application for over 1,000 houses has been submitted at Alvescot Downs, Carterton. The site was rejected in the draft Local Plan but the Council's current lack of 5 Year Housing Supply could see it sneak through.

CPRE has written to the Secretary of State asking him to call in an Inspector's decision to grant permission for a solar farm at Bletchingdon, which would be the first within the Oxford Green Belt.

The Vale of White Horse draft Local Plan is proposing 1,700 houses at seven sites in the Green Belt.   But it is also suggesting taking nearly 20 more sites out of the Green Belt to make development easier in the future.  How many holes can you put in a belt before it falls apart?

Please respond to the consultation by 4 April.

Attack on rural Vale

Written by CPRE Oxfordshire

The Vale of White Horse District Council has published an update to its Local Plan 2031 proposals and it's not good news. The proposed housing figures have shot up, leading to the identification of 21 new development sites including in the Green Belt and AONB, threatening to undermine the character of the rural Vale.
