Residents from all over Oxfordshire attended the Protect Vale Green Belt Walk on Sunday morning to express their concern about plans to develop large parts of the Green Belt around north Abingdon.

A new campaign is launched today - ‘Need not Greed Oxon’ (Planning for real Need not speculator Greed in Oxfordshire) by a coalition of 15 local organisations from across the county.

With the second stage of hearings into the Vale's Local Plan to begin on 2 February 2016, CPRE has submitted its hearing statements, calling into question the Vale's plans for housing in the Green Belt and NWD AONB.

Local Plan inspector has told West Oxfordshire District Council that their housing numbers are not justified and they must be reviewed (presumably upwards!).

The Housing and Planning minister, Brandon Lewis MP announced this week that Didcot is to become Greater Didcot Garden Town. He said this will help with the delivery of infrastructure, 15,000 houses and 20,000 high-tech jobs.
