Rooftop Solar Audits – is your community interested?

houses with rooftop solar panels

16th April 2024

CPRE Oxfordshire is seeking a small number of local communities to work with on delivering rooftop solar audits.   Initial expressions of interest by end of April please.

Solar energy has an important role to play in the UK’s future energy supply but we need to ensure it is directed to rooftops, car parks and brownfield sites – not our countryside and farmland.

The audits would assess the potential of rooftops to provide solar energy within the village/parish and explore feasibility and costs.  This would be supported by two community workshops, one at the start to explain the project and one at the end to explore the findings and next steps.

We are looking to identify around half a dozen interested communities, that would go forward as part of a national CPRE bid to the National Lottery’s Climate Action Fund.   If successful, projects would be delivered 2025 onwards.

Is there a catch?  Well, we need quick expressions of interest as we need to pull together all the information by mid-May.

So, if your community might be interested in getting involved, we’d love to hear from you asap, ideally by the end of April.

Please just send very brief details to:  E: campaign@cpreoxon.org.uk
