CPRE Oxfordshire has worked hard to protect our natural landscapes and engage with the wider community to ensure a thriving Oxfordshire countryside for all. See below for our 2025 highlights.

Countryside Improvement

We mobilised over 800 4,778.5m of hedgerow planted and restored volunteers to plant and restore 4,778.5m of hedgerows

Launched our Love Your Countryside project to restore neglected meadows and reconnect communities with the nature on their doorstep

Climate Action

We launched our Rooftop Renewables project in Sonning Common, delivering a community screening of the Power Station documentary and two practical workshops, engaging over 30 residents

Plans set in place to roll the project out across the Vale of White Horse for community buildings

Raising Our Voice

Our work reached national and regional audiences, with coverage in: Oxford Mail, BBC, Financial Times, The Guardian, Planning Magazine… alongside local press, radio and TV.

Influencing Decision-Makers

We played a key role in influencing 4 Local Plans, and also responded to major proposals and consultations, including: Abingdon reservoir, Botley West solar farm, the Land Use Framework and Local Government Reorganisation

Campaign Wins & Action

We defended the countryside in the High Court on the Abingdon reservoir case, challenged Botley West solar farm at examination stage, stopped development at Waterstock, saving 100 acres of Green Belt and protected Land Behind the Moors from 340-home proposal

Supporting Networks

We expanded and strengthened partnerships with organisations such as Wild Oxfordshire and Friends of the Earth, as well as local campaign groups. We fostered community engagement with numerous members' events from film screenings to workshops to meadow walks.
