Rights of Way Consultation

Written by CPRE Oxfordshire

How can we improve the County's footpaths?

Oxfordshire County Council (OCC) is consulting on its second Rights of Way Improvement Plan. It would like your suggestions on its review of the first plan and its proposals for the second plan. Let them know by 9 January 2013.

More info on the OCC website.

An application to erect a wind turbine at Rowan Farm in Henton has been refused by South Oxfordshire District Council (SODC). We are delighted with this decision.

Oxpens meadow protected

Written by Local Group Web Manager: Jane Tomlinson

Oxpens Meadow has finally been secured as an open space. Councillors have agreed to dedicate it to HM The Queen in her Diamond Jubilee year under a 'fields in trust' scheme which protects green spaces for the future.

Well done to Oxfordshire County Council (OCC) for serving a prohibition order on a site at Thrupp Farm near Radley!  The order comes as a relief to local residents who have been blighted by illegal workings on the site for years.

While we are big supporters of recycling and reducing the amount of waste going to landfill, that doesn't mean we automatically support waste management companies in expanding their premises.

Planning minister Nick Boles is wrong on housing, wrong on the countryside. His call to increase the urbanised area of England is provocative and unnecessary, and casts a shadow over at least 25% of our undisturbed countryside.
