SODC Stabs Green Belt in the Back

Once it’s biggest supporter, South Oxfordshire District Council (SODC) has turned against the Green Belt. CPRE believes the South Oxfordshire Local Plan will include all sites in the previous, aborted 2017 version plus additional major sites within the Green Belt. Amongst the new greenbelt incursions will be Grenoble Road, Northfields, Oxford Brookes and a site north of the city on the ring road.

The consultation on the Thames Water revised draft Water Resources Management Plan runs until 28 November.

Oxford Central Conservation Area Consultation

Oxford City Council held a long overdue review of Oxford Central’s conservation area, whcich ended on 26th October.

The Government acceptance of recommendations from the National Infrastructure Commission to develop the Oxford-Cambridge Arc despite no formal public consultation, environmental assessment or parliamentary inquiry having taken place, is a ‘devastating blow for local democracy and the countryside’, says CPRE.

27,000 hectares of farmland and woodland threatened by Oxford-Cambridge Arc, according to CPRE analysis

The Government is set to accept a recommendation from the National Infrastructure Commission (NIC), this Monday (29 October), to build 1 million new homes between Oxford, Milton Keynes and Cambridge.

CPRE Oxfordshire is hosting this public event to raise awareness of the Joint Statutory Spatial Plan (JSSP) and to encourage our decision makers to engage with local communities.
