Network Rail is running a consultation on Phase 2 of East West Rail - have your say

Network Rail is running a consultation on Phase 2 of East West Rail, running until 11 August.

East West Rail aims to establish a strategic railway connnecting East Anglia with Central, Southern and Western England.

Phase 1 concerned the Western section of the route - connecting Oxford Parkway with Bicester Village.

Phase 2 will focus on the Central section of the route - connecting Bicester Village with Bedford, via Winslow and Bletchley, with connections to Milton Keynes, Aylesbury and Princes Risborough.

Phase 3 will address the Eastern section of the route - connecting Bedford with Cambridge, with connections to Norwich and Ipswich.

To find out more about Network Rail's proposals, and to respond to the consultation, see the Network Rail website

CPRE is supportive of the line in principle, which passes through Cherwell District in Oxfordshire, but we will be examining the details of the latest proposals and we will focus our comments on the specific local implications and any mitigation required.
