Oxford Local Plan Preferred Options - have your say

Tuesday, 20 June 2017 13:16

Oxford City Council is producing a new Local Plan - the public consultation on its Preferred Options opened on 30 June.

Local Plan Preferred Options

Last summer the Council held a public consultation on what the new Local Plan should cover and it has now published its Preferred Options for consultation.

The consultation on the Preferred Options for the Local Plan 2036 opened on Friday 30th June and closes on 25 August 2017.

CPRE's initial reaction:

The City is planning to build yet more commercial properties on available land within the City, rather than housing, thereby exacerbating the housing v jobs balance.

What's more, surrounding districts are having to accommodate the overspill from Oxford's unmet need (Cherwell District Council has announced it plans to build 3,990 houses on Green Belt land to meet Oxford's shortfall).

Oxford City Council is also planning to build on several Green Belt sites.

These sites are:

  • The site opposite Redbridge Park and Ride
  • Two sites on the western edge of Marston and one site on the eastern side (Marston Paddock)
  • A small site next to St Catherine's College
  • Two sites to the north of the city adjoining potential developments sites in Cherwell District Council's area (St Frideswide Farm and adjoining Northern Gateway)
  • One site to the west of New Marston.

For a map of the proposed Green Belt sites, see page 62 of the Preferred Options Full Document Full Document
