Council questioned on contamination at Port Meadow

There are serious concerns about contamination at the site of the Oxford University development at Port Meadow.   What are Oxford City Council going to do?

Sietske Boeles, Chairman of CPRE Oxford and member of the Save Port Meadow campaign group, has submitted a clear question to Councillor Bob Price, Leader of Oxford City Council, asking about the potential risk to public health and the environment posed by the development.   We hope he will give us an equally clear answer at the City Council meeting next Monday 24 June.

In summary, we’d like the Council to:

- confirm that the contamination exists, as indicated by its own reports

- provide reassurance that the site and the surrounding areas are safe (including Cripley Meadow allotments and Port Meadow itself)

- failing this, issue an immediate stop notice for the development.

The Save Port Meadow campaign urgently needs your help.   Find out more.
