Save Port Meadow Summer Ale

Wednesday, 22 May 2013 20:47

Save Port Meadow Summer Ale Jane tomlinson

Three cheers for a new local beer that is being launched this weekend in support of our Save Port Meadow campaign.

Compass Brewery, based in Carterton, has created Save Port Meadow Summer Ale.

Taking its inspiration from the meadow itself, the beer is a 4%, straw coloured, grassy & hoppy summer ale. Participating establishments are expected to donate at least 20p a pint which will go directly to CPRE’s Save Port Meadow fund, supporting our legal fight against the planning permission given to the University accommodation blocks that are devastating this wonderful green space.

The beer will initially be launched in the following pubs over the forthcoming Bank Holiday Weekend: The Gardeners Arms, Jericho; The Rose & Crown, North Parade; and The White Hart, Wolvercote. The campaign is also keen to hear from other establishments who may wish to stock Save Port Meadow Summer Ale.

A huge thank you to local resident Iain McGlade, the brains behind this idea.

Why not take a walk on the meadow and follow it up by raising a glass of Save Port Meadow Ale?
