Planning - CPRE Oxfordshire objects to Vale's Interim Housing Policy.
Planning Reforms
The Government wants to introduce major changes to the UK’s planning rules. CPRE believes that some of these changes will lead to large-scale and badly-planned development that will threaten our landscape and our communities. It will challenge everything we have worked for in Oxfordshire over the last 80 years.
Green Belt
The Oxford Green Belt faces multiple threats from inappropriate development proposals. CPRE appeared at the EiP into SODC's Core Strategy in July and November 2011, where we argued against the proposed development in the Green Belt at Berinsfield and Wheatley.
Wind Farms & Energy
CPRE is monitoring proposals for wind farms in Oxfordshire and considering each case on its merits for impact on the landscape and potential for electricity generation. CPRE campaigned against Oxford City Council's proposal for a turbine in the Green Belt at Horspath which was axed in March 2011.
Transport - High Speed 2
CPRE is highly critical of many aspects of the Government’s High Speed Two proposals, not least because they will be damaging to tranquil, rural parts of north east Oxfordshire.
Green Spaces
CPRE supports local communities in their fight to protect much loved green spaces in the heart of the city of Oxford and other county towns, and to have them protected by Town Green status.
Upper Thames Reservoir
The proposed reservoir near Abingdon, which threatened to destroy a cherished landscape in the Vale, has been shelved. CPRE appeared at the Public Inquiry in 2010 calling for more environmentally sustainable solutions to future water supply.
