Keynote Speaker: Martin Harris, Trustee, Wild Oxfordshire, on 'The Oxfordshire State of Nature Report 2017'
From Local Plans to Expressways, there's been lots going on by way of development in the County over the last year and plenty still to come. Please join us for a round-up of CPRE Oxfordshire's work, seeking to influence if, where and how this development takes place, with a view to protecting our rural character for generations to come.
Our keynote speaker this year will be Martin Harris from local conservation charity Wild Oxfordshire. Its groundbreaking report on Oxfordshire's wildlife has pulled together information and research from over 60 local organisations (including CPRE!) to give the first ever comprehensive record of the state of Oxfordshire's nature. There are some great success stories including the water vole, bittern and otter. But the overall picture is one of serious decline due to development, climate change and other pressures. Wild Oxfordshire says our nature is now at a tipping point, with several iconic species including the turtle dove facing extinction. Find out what you, and others, can do to make a difference.
Refreshments will be provided courtesy of CPRE Vale of White Horse District.
Papers for the AGM will be available here shortly.
