Oxfordshire is rich in sands and gravels, but quarrying and minerals extraction defaces some of our finest landscapes and wreck tranquillity, has a devastating effect on nearby communities, transport and wildlife, and they increase our carbon emissions. We need to plan our activities with extreme care to minimise local disruption while still maintaining economic output.

Waste disposal, landfill sites, recycling depots and anaerobic digestion plants are big subjects for Oxfordshire. And litter and fly-tipping cost the county - as us as taxpayers - £millions every year. We don't sweep these dirty subjects under the carpet; they affect us all and we tackle them head-on.
