Transport - Oxfordshire Local Transport Plan 3 (2011-2030)

The County Council's Local Transport Plan is a document which sets out the vision, objectives and outcomes for transport in Oxfordshire, together with a programme of investment in new transport schemes and maintenance of the existing network for making that vision happen and achieving the objectives and outcomes sought.

Oxfordshire's first Local Transport Plan (LTP) covered the period between 2001 and 2006, with the second LTP covering 2006-2011. The county is currently starting work on developing a third LTP. This Plan will be a longer term document, covering the period 2011 to 2030 and will be accompanied by a shorter term improvements programme, which will be reviewed and rolled forward annually.

The LTP3 is currently in development and is due to come into effect in 2011.

CPRE Oxfordshire is a stakeholder to the LTP3 consultations. In our response to the Oxfordshire LTP3 Consultation 5: Scenarios (June 2010), we argued that no more park and ride capacity should be provided in the Oxford Green Belt, but rather provision should be made at the country towns where the commuting traffic originates. We also stated that the tried and tested planning policy of containing growth at the important historic university town of Oxford by concentrating growth in the larger country towns has been successful, but is highly dependent on economic growth there.

The consultation on the draft LTP3 runs from 4 October 2010 until 9 January 2011.

CPRE Oxfordshire will be submitting its response to the draft LTP 3 shortly. We will be highlighting the need for the County Council to focus on reducing light pollution, road sign clutter and advertising on roundabouts, particularly in rural areas.
