Oxford's green spaces are under threat
 
 

The map shows the major current threats to green space in Oxford. Many are threatened under the Oxford Core Strategy to 2026. See also our proposals for a Green Grid for Oxford.

  • 1. Warneford Meadow is threatened by the NHS. CPRE opposes this development.
  • 2. Southfield Golf Course. The City Council is proposing housing development in its Core Strategy. CPRE opposes this development .
  • 3. Barton. The City Council is suggesting development of this safeguarded site as an option in its Core Strategy. CPRE calls for sensitive development.
  • 4. Pear Tree. The City Council is suggesting development of this safeguarded site in its Core Strategy. CPRE calls for development that releases brownfield in the city.
  • 5. Summertown. The City Council is suggesting development of this safeguarded site in its Core Strategy. CPRE opposes this development.
  • 6. Wind Turbine. Midcounties Co-operative has applied to build a wind turbine. CPRE is studying this development.
  • 7. Marston. The City Council wants to build 1,050 dwellings on green fields and allotments.
  • 8. Ruskin College. West Waddy ADP is proposing development for 150 dwellings on a greenfield site in a conservation area.
  • 9. Headington Quarry Glebe. The Oxford Diocesan Board of Finance wants 72 dwellings on a site of nature conservation importance.
  • G. Threats to the green belt. CPRE opposes development in the green belt. The City Council, Magdalen College and Thames Water are among those proposing urban extensions into the green belt.
